1936 – Joe DiMaggio is the fifth player in MLB history to hit two home runs in one inning.

1947 – Jackie Robinson steals home for the first of 19 times in his career.

1980 – The Atlanta Flames hockey team moves to Calgary.

1983 – Don Sutton becomes the eighth pitcher in MLB history to strikeout 3,000 hitters in his career.

1992 – MLB Commissioner Fay Vincent bans Steve Howe from baseball due to substance abuse issues. Howe would be reinstated in 1993.
