1936 – The Red Wings beat the Maple Leafs to win the Stanley Cup.

1965 – Jack Nicklaus shoots a record 271 to win the Masters by nine strokes over Arnold Palmer and Gary Player.

1966 – Jack Nicklaus wins his second straight Masters, beating Tommy Jacobs and Gay Brewer in a playoff.

1981 – Larry Holmes wins an 15 round unanimous decision over Trevor Berbick to retain his world heavyweight title.

1989 – Flyers goalie Ron Hextall becomes the first goalie in NHL history to score a goal in a playoff game as Philly beats Washington 8-5.

2004 – Phil Mickelson wins his first career major, winning the Masters.

2007 – Vancouver Canucks goalie Roberto Luongo sets an NHL record for saves in a first career playoff start, making 72 stops in Vancouver’s 5-4 quadruple overtime win over Dallas.

2010 – Phil Mickelson wins his third career Masters title, beating Lee Westwood by three strokes.

2023 – The Boston Bruins break the record for most team points in a season at 133.
