1964 – Russ Deal, the first Hobart coaching legend, picks up his last win over Gary Emerson, a 20-0 shutout against Harry Szurborski and the Golden Tornadoes.
1965 – Gary Tolleston plays Gary Roosevelt on a Saturday afternoon at Gilroy Stadium in Glen Park. The Blue Raiders of Tolleston get the win 25-6. Newspaper reports indicate this game was played in the daylight to avoid potential trouble between fans of the two schools.
1970 – Bob Webb and Horace Mann hand Lew Wallace and its new coach Mike Jennings their third straight loss to start the season.
1971 – The Andrean 59ers battle the Hobart Brickies in a Saturday matinee at Gary’s Gilroy Stadium. The private school gets the better of the public school in this one, winning a defensive battle 16-6.
1981 – Head Coach Dennis Leonard leads his River Forest Ingots to a 4-0 record for the first time in program history and one of just two times overall (the other being 2003). In a hard fought battle, the Ingots escape the Farm with a 17-15 victory.
1981 – The Griffith Panthers win their fourth straight to start the year, a 44-0 rout of the Lowell Red Devils. Les Thornton and company would go on to win 11 games in ’81 – three more than any Griffith team had ever won in any season to that point .
1992 – Zac Wells and the Merrillville Pirates have their way with MC Rogers 36-0 and the just opened Demarree Stadium.
1992 – Les Thornton starts his final season by coaching the Griffith Panthers to 11 straight wins, one of which was in week four; a 28-7 thumping of the Crown Point Bulldogs at what would become known as the Boneyard. Thornton retires after the 1992 season.
1998 – The Hobart Brickies beat LaPorte 16-6 at Brickie Bowl. It’s the 312th career win for Coach Don Howell, and his last against the Slicers.
1998 – With a 30-0 shutout of Calumet, the Highland Trojans improved to 5-0 for the first time since 1982 and just the third time in school history.
1998 – Munster notches an 18-10 upset victory over the defending state champion Griffith Panthers. The Mustangs had dropped their previous three games and were a heavy underdog against the powerful Panthers and their vaunted Wishbone attack.
2009 – Kirk Kennedy’s Lowell Red Devils move to 5-0 with a 42-0 humiliation of Highland at the Inferno. For the Devils, it’s the first of three straight shutouts. Lowell’s dominant defense and I-formation offense outscored their opponents 140-0 over the three game stretch.
