1964 – The Golden Tornadoes of Gary Emerson, notch their only victory of the season; an 18-14 squeaker over the Highland Trojans at Gary’s Gilroy Stadium.
1981 – The Griffith Panthers shut out the East Chicago Roosevelt Roughriders 21-0. Despite the loss, ECR, which is coached by Bill Bork, finishes the campaign with a 6-4 record – it’s the last time the program ever finished the season with a winning record (6-4). The school would consolidate with East Chicago Washington after the 1985 school year.
1987 – Leroy Marsh and the Munster Mustangs improve to 3-0 with a 27-12 win over Les Thornton and the Griffith Panthers.
1987 – The Highland Trojans fall to 0-3 after a 24-10 home loss to Crown Point. Despite the 0-3 start, Dave Shelbourne’s team rebounds to finish 9-5, falling to Ben Davis 14-7 in the Class 5A state championship game.
1987 – The Gary Wirt Troopers pick up their first victory of the season, a 2-0 win over West Side. The loss drops the Cougars to 0-4 on the season, with three of the four losses coming by two points each.
1987 – On their way to a perfect season, the Hobart Brickies move to 3-0 with a 17-12 win over Andrean at Brickie Bowl.
1987 – George Hall’s Morton Governors shut out city rival Hammond High 9-0. It’s the Wildcats only loss during the regular season and effectively makes the team from Hessville the conference champs. Both schools finished the regular season with an 7-1 mark.
1992 – The Hobart Brickies travel to Father Eckert Field where they demolish the Andrean 59ers 52-0.
1998 – Don Howell coaches his last game at Bulldog Turf. He and his Brickies fall to Crown Point by a score of 24-7.
1998 – On their way to a 10-win season for the first time in 15 years, the Highland Trojans defeat the Lowell Red Devils 55-0.
2009 – The Lowell Red Devils take down the Griffith Panthers 35-19 at the Inferno. It’s the last time Kirk Kennedy and Russ Radtke square off as head coaches of these two schools.
2015 – Brett St. Germain and the Lake Central Indians defeat Crown Point 21-7 at the Burial Grounds in St. John. It’s the fifth of five straight wins for LC in the series.
