1935 – Very first Sugar Bowl is played. Tulane defeats Temple 20-14
1935 – First Orange Bowl is played. Bucknell beats Miami (Fl) 26-0.
1943 – The Chicago Blackhawks put first trio of brothers on ice to play together in an NHL game. Max, Doug and Reggie Bentley appear for the Hawks in a 6-5 win over the New York Islanders at the Chicago Stadium.
1967 – Canadian Amateur Football formally becomes successor to Canadian Rugby Football Union. Part of the deal turns the Grey Cup Trophy over to CFL.
1967 – NFL Championship played at Cotton Bowl in Dallas. Green Bay Packers defeat the Dallas Cowboys 34-27.
1967 – AFL Championship play in Buffalo at the War Memorial Stadium. The Kansas City Chiefs down the Buffalo Bills 31-7. QB Len Dawson passes for two TDs and RB Mike Garrett runs in two TDs.
1969 – In something unheard of, Jack Kent Cooke, owner of the NHL LA Kings fines each player $100 for NOT arguing with the referee.
1974 – Ernie DiGregorio establishes single game record for assists by a rookie. The Buffalo Braves rookie dished out 25 assists in a 120-119 win over Portland.
1976 – After 45 years of coaching in the NFL, legendary coach Paul Brown announces his retirement.
2004 – St. Louis Blues head coach Joel Quenneville get his 300th NHL win as his Blues defeat the Edmonton Oilers 5-2 at the Svvis Center in St. Louis. Quenneville becomes St. Louis coaching and wins leader.
2014 – The 100th Rose Bowl is played. #4 Michigan States defeats #5 Stanford 24-20.
2022 – DeMar DeRozan becomes the first player in NBA history to hit back-to-back game winners on two consecutive nights.
