OUTLOOK: Last season was a rough one for the Bearcats, as they were at the bottom of the GSSC South. It was a four-win decrease from the ’21 season, marking Wheeler’s worst season record-wise since 2004.
Like a few other teams in the conference, Wheeler will be led by a new face, as former Clark coach, Nick Testa, will take over for the Bearcats in 2023.
The ‘Cats do have to try and replace 1,372 yards of total offense after the loss of Caden Brann to graduation, in addition to losing their top three tacklers. Wheeler does return its Junior signal caller in Caleb Klimczak, along with his classmate and number one target, Bryce Compton.
The GSSC South may be open for the taking in 2023 with Hanover’s departure, and Wheeler may be on back for a bounce back year this fall.
