OUTLOOK: Another year, another less-than-ideal fall for Portage. The Indians found themselves at the floor of the DAC for the second straight year.
Looking towards 2023, it is a new coaching era in Portage, as Roy Richards is back in the area and is striving to do what he has done before – turn a school’s football program around.
The Indians lose a bit of production, graduating their top three rushers and two receivers. But some younger pieces may help jumpstart the Richards rebuild. Kodie Young was thrown under center as a true freshman last fall and performed beyond his years. The Indians also bring back a dependable defensive piece in Adam Korba and an aerial threat with JoJo Mabon.
If there is a lead man you would want to build around in arguably the area’s most competitive conference – chances are that Portage has their guy in Roy Richards.
