FOOTBALL: Crown Point 2023 Team Preview

OUTLOOK: Crown Point may be coming off one of the most disappointing outright DAC-winning seasons in years past. After running through the regular season without a scratch, CP was bounced out of the playoffs by Lafayette Jefferson in the Sectional Championship. 

It may have been challenging to decide on the strength of the Bulldogs in 2022, but the offense is tough to overlook. But now for 2023, the Dawgs will have to try and replace the 2,000+ yards of offense from North All-Star QB and Depauw commit, JJ Johnson. 

But if there was an award for “2023 transfer signees,” CP takes the cake.

To start with the hole under center, the Dawgs addressed the matter by landing Johnson’s potential replacement in dual-threat talent Noah Ehrlich, who was previously at Hobart. They also brought in some talented weapons through the air for CP’s signal caller. 

The Dawgs also return some All-State pieces from last year’s team in Will Clark and Jeffrey Meschede. 

The talent is definitely there for CP in 2023, but the hope for the Bulldog faithful is if the transfers and the returners can gel and ultimately execute as a unit. Nonetheless, Crown Point has a real chance to repeat as DAC champions.
