1904 – Ty Cobb makes his pro baseball debut, playing for Augusta in the South Atlantic League.
1967 – After 737 home games, the Dodgers have their first rain out in Los Angeles.
1980 – Rosie Ruiz wins the Boston Marathon, finishing in a time of two hours, 31 minutes, and 56 seconds. After an investigation, Ruiz is stripped of the title after it was determined she did not run the entire race.
1989 – Future US president George W. Bush is named CEO of the Texas Rangers.
1991 – The Dallas Cowboys select University of Miami defensive tackle Russell Maryland with the first pick in the NFL Draft.
2001 – The Atlanta Falcons draft Michael Vick with the #1 overall pick.
2012 – White Sox pitcher Phillip Humber throws a perfect game against the Seattle Mariners. It’s the 21st perfect game in MLB history.
2013 – Joe Scarborough, an electrical contractor, rolls the first 900 series in Professional Bowlers Association history – that’s three straight perfect games.
2018 – Sean Manaea of the Oakland A’s, who pitched at both South Central and Andrean, throws a no-hitter against the Boston Red Sox.
