1944 – The New York Rangers end its league record 25 game winless streak with a 5-2 victory over the Detroit Red Wings.

1946 – The New York Knicks play its first basketball game in Madison Square Garden. They would lose to the Chicago Stags, 78-68.

1981 – Dodgers rookie sensation, Fernando Valenzuela becomes the first rookie in MLB history to win the Cy Young Award.

2007 – Brett Favre becomes the second QB in NFL history to throw for 60,000 career passing yards.

2012 – Hall of Fame tight end Tony Gonzalez catches the 100th touchdown pass of his career in a 31-27 loss against New Orleans.

2017 – After 4 total touchdowns and 342 total yards in a win against Virginia, Louisville’s Lamar Jackson becomes the first player in NCAA history to have two seasons with over 1,000 yards rushing and 3,000 yards passing.

2017 – Duke’s legendary head coach, Mike Krzyzewski, becomes the first men’s D1 coach to win 1,000 games at a single school.
