1976 – Defending 3A state champion Valpo improves to 5-0 with a 30-16 win at Chesterton.
1976 – The Merrillville Pirates double up on the Portage Indians by a score of 20-10. The Pirates get their fifth win of 11 wins en route to the school’s only football state title.
1982 – Merrillville moves to 4-1 after their 13-7 win over Portage.
1982 – Jay Simmons and the Highland Trojans down Mike Ramirez and the Munster Mustangs 10-7 in the Battle of the Bridge. For only the third time in history, the bridge on Ridge was painted blue.
1982 – Crown Point gets the first win of the season, as they outscore Griffith 20-12. The Bulldogs improve to 1-4 while the Panthers fall to 4-1.
1982 – The Brickies wallop West Side 62-0 to stay unbeaten, as they move to 5-0 on the season.
1993 – Craig Buzea records his first win of two career wins over Michigan City Rogers by a score of 30-6. Rogers and Elton would merge after the 1994 school year.
2004 – Wally McCormack’s Hobart Brickies win a homecoming match up against the eventual 3A state champion Andrean 59ers 20-7. The victory was one of nine on the season for the Bricks – their most since 1997 when they won 12 before getting bumped in the regional by Griffith.
2004 – Russ Radtke’s Griffith Panthers
continue to dominate in the battle of the Bikepath – this time it’s 43-7 – a closer score than many in the recent series.
2004 – Munster outscored Morton 33-21 in a shootout at the Governors Mansion on the campus of Hessville High.
