1969 – Lee May of the Cincinnati Reds hits a combined four home runs in a double-header.
1973 – Nolan Ryan, then with the Angels, throws his second career no-hitter.
1973 – Giants slugger Willie McCovey becomes the 15th player in MLB history to reach the 400 career home run plateau.
1980 – Johnny Bench sets the record for most home runs as a catcher, hitting his 314th career homer.
2013 – 18 people are killed and 47 more are injured in a riot following a boxing match in Indonesia.
2018 – France beats Croatia 4-2 to win the World Cup.
2019 – Tampa Bay Rays catcher Travis d’Aranaud becomes the first player in MLB history to hit three home runs in a game while catching and batting leadoff.
