1937 – White Sox pitcher Bill Dietrich throws a no-hitter against the St. Louis Browns.

1939 – Lou Nova defeats Max Baer via TKO in the 11th round in the first ever televised boxing match.

1939 – The first night game in MLB history takes place at Shribe Park in Philadelphia with the Pirates beating the Phillies 5-2.
