1919 – Babe Ruth not only gets the win on the mound, he hits his first career grand slam as the Red Sox defeat the St. Louis Browns 6-4.

1920 – Chicago police raid the bleachers at Cubs Park and arrest 24 fans for gambling.

1941 – Taft Wright of the Chicago White Sox sets an American League record with RBIs in 13 consecutive games.

1946 – Cubs pitcher Claude Passeau makes his first error since September 21, 1941. His 273 consecutive errorless chances are a record for a pitcher.

1984 – Roger Clemens records his first career victory as the Red Sox defeated the Twins 5-4.

1988 – Mike Schmidt hits career home run #535, moving him into eighth place all-time.

1991 – Michael Jordan is named NBA MVP.
