1952 – Minor league pitcher Ron Necciai of the Bristol Twins strikes out 27 hitters in a nine inning game against the Welch Miners.
1958 – St. Louis Cardinals great Stan Musial becomes the eighth player in MLB history to total 3,000 career hits. The milestone hit is a walkoff double lifting the Cardinals over the Cubs.
1972 – The Brewers finally defeat the Twins 4-3 in 22 innings. The game began on May 12th.
1982 – The Cubs pick up their 8,000th career franchise victory, defeating the Astros 5-0 in Houston.
1983 – Reggie Jackson strikes out for the 2,000th time in his career. He’s the first player in MLB history to whiff that many times.
1985 – Carlton Fisk becomes the fifth catcher in MLB history to steal 100 career bases.
1989 – Twins outfielder Kirby Puckett hits four doubles in a game – he’s the 35th player to accomplish that feat.
1993 – George Brett hits his 300th career home run, becoming just the sixth player in MLB history to have 300 homers and 3,000 hits.
1997 – Eddie Murray becomes the sixth player in MLB history to appear in 3,000 career games.
2005 – Tiger Woods misses a cut, ending his record of 142 consecutive cuts made over seven years on the PGA Tour.
