1967 – Hank Aaron hits the only inside the park home run in his career.

1970 – Bobby Orr scores an overtime goal to give the Boston Bruins their first Stanley Cup title in 29 years. Orr’s post-goal “flight” remains one of the most memorable NHL moments of all-time.

1970 – Atlanta Braves pitcher Hoyt Wilhelm makes his 1,000th career appearance.

1973 – The Knicks win the NBA title, defeating the Lakers in five games.

1973 – The Montreal Canadiens win game six and the Stanley Cup, defeating the Blackhawks in Chicago.

1993 – Bill Walton is inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame.

2001 – The XFL announces that they are folding after one season.

2002 – The Celtics and the Pistons play in the lowest scoring playoff game in the NBA since the shot clock was introduced in the 1954-55 season. The Celtics won the game 66-64.

2002 – The Angels defeat the White Sox 19-0. In the win, the Angels become just the fourth team in MLB history to win two games in the same season by 19 or more runs.

2005 – Dwyane Wade of the Miami Heat becomes the fifth player in NBA history to score at least 30 points, dish out 15 assists and collect five rebounds in a playoff game.

2016 – Golden State’s Stephen Curry becomes the first unanimous MVP in NBA history.
