OUTLOOK: Year three of the Rick Good regime in Tri-Town is pivotal for the Indians. LC has improved, record-wise, in each of Good’s first two years with the program, and last season’s four-win mark was the highest for the program since 2016. But the Tribe is still searching for their first winning season since 2014.
LC’s season may start and end with one of the area’s top returning running backs – Xavier Williams. The future Iowa Hawkeye was a workhorse last fall, notching 223 carries, 40 more than the second most for returning ball carriers.
Lake Central did end 2022 in a bittersweet fashion. Yes, the team did lose a heartbreaker to Lafayette Jefferson in the Sectional Opener. However, the Indians played them well, arguably better than last year’s DAC regular season champion, Crown Point.
Only time will tell how LC can ride that sliver of promising momentum into 2023.
