OUTLOOK: 2022 was a routine season for LaPorte, as the Slicers were once again near the bottom of the DAC, finishing with their second straight 2-win season.
It is again a new coaching era at LaPorte, as Interim Head Coach Austin Epple hopes to turn the Slicers around. Epple will be the Slicers’ fourth coach in four years.
There are some pieces coming back, as the team’s strength this fall could be its passing attack, as three 200+ yard receivers from 2022 will be suiting up in orange again. The defense brings back some studs as well. They do have to replace leading tackler Brennan Balka, but LaPorte still may have one of the top linebacker duos in the area with Javelle Broome and Kyle Freel.
One thing is similar with the top returners for the Slicers – all seniors. That said, can the senior leaders jumpstart this rebuild and end the recent coaching carousel?
