OUTLOOK: Morton surprised a lot of people in 2022 for the wrong reasons. Last fall was their worst campaign record-wise in over 20 years. After struggling the past few years, 2023 may be a make-or-break season for fourth-year Morton Head Coach Mac Mishler.
However, Morton has a scary returning class. The Govs bring back some pieces in the backfield, featuring a two-headed beast in the run game with a 1,000+ yard rusher in Dontell Harris Jr. and Freddy Brown, who is also a threat on the other side of the ball.
Morton’s signal caller will also be back this fall, as Holland Harris may be one of the top Junior dual-threat QBs this season.
If there is a list of teams to look out for 2023’s “biggest one-year turnaround,” the Governors could find themselves on that list come October.
