OUTLOOK: Last year’s State Championship loss may have marked the end of a chapter at 5959 Broadway. To put it lightly, Andrean loses some notable talent in the wake of their 20-10 loss to Evansville Mater Dei at Lucas Oil.
Alongside graduating Notre Dame enrollee and reigning Mr. Indiana, Drayk Bowen, the 59ers say goodbye to two All-State defenders in Antonio Barnes and North All-Star, Charlie Koeppen.
In addition to those losses, the 59ers have been on the wrong end of the transfer market, losing the bulk of their receiving core from 2022.
Thankfully, Andrean has some youth that has gained varsity experience over the past few seasons. It starts with a two-way stud in JJ Bolz, who might be the top true sophomore in the area, if not the conference. Alongside him is an All-State DB in James Finley, who made the Junior All-State team as a sophomore.
Things may look a bit different for the red and gold in 2023, but the Niners surely have some pieces for a bright future.
