The Griffith High School Athletic Department announced on Monday that Anthony Marino has been hired as the school’s new head varsity softball coach. Marino is a graduate of West Leyden High School where he was a member of the Varsity Baseball team. He continued his education at Triton University where he played collegiate baseball and coached. He later attended DePaul University where he graduated with his Bachelor’s degree.
Marino comes to Griffith with an extensive coaching background that has prepared him for his new role as our Softball Coach. He has a total of 20 years plus of coaching. He has coached high school for 5 years and college for 2 years. He has also coached a travel softball team for 18 years. He most recently coached at Marian Catholic. Marino is also a veteran of the Army Reserve for 10 years with an honorable discharge.
“Coach Marino’s passion for coaching is electric,” Griffith Athletic Director Neil Dimos stated in a press released. “He brings a lot of experience to our student-athletes that transcends the game. Our student athletes are truly fortunate have him as their coach. We are excited for his enthusiasm and to have him on the Panther team. ”
