#1 stays the same, but a lot of other movement in the Top 10!

MICHIGAN CITY WOLVES
|
↔
Last Week: #10
Starting a season off 2-2 isn’t exactly ideal, but when those two L’s come to state-ranked SB Riley (only by four) and prep school power LaPorte LaLumiere, they don’t look so bad. The real test for the Wolves comes on the 15th when they take on EC Central in what could be one of the best games of the season.

BOWMAN EAGLES
|
↓
Last Week: #6
There’s no doubt the Eagles have the offensive ability to win a lot of games, but will their defense keep them in them? Through six games, Bowman is giving up over 64 points a game – and has given up 70 or more twice already this season. That end of the court needs to improve or the losses could pile up and they can find themselves out of the rankings.

LAPORTE SLICERS
|
↔
Last Week: #8
While wins over SB Washington & New Prairie aren’t exactly victories against state powers, it does mean something for LaPorte – that is a 2-0 start for the first time since the 2009-10 campaign. The Slicers should be able to build off that momentum with a very winnable schedule where they may be the favorite in every game they play until the 12/20 showdown against Lowell.
#7 |
LOWELL RED DEVILS
|
↓
Last Week: #3
The Devils opened with two blowout wins before they got blown out in their first real test of the season. Not sure what happened there so we’re eager to see if that was just the fluke we think it was. They’ll get a chance to wipe the slate clean with what would now have to be considered an upset over Valpo tonight at the Viking Gymnasium.
#6 |
ANDREAN 59ERS
|
↑
Last Week: #9
Like the Trojans, Andrean was a question mark to open the season, but they’ve answered the bell better than expected. Their wins come against three quality clubs, so as of the now, they belong right where they are. The Niners go to Merrillville for the basketball edition of the Battle of Broadway on Saturday.
#5 |
CHESTERTON TROJANS
|
↑
Last Week: NR
This year’s baby Trojans hail from Porter County…and what a start these newcomers have had. The blowout win over Lowell was a mind blower to say the least. This week starts with the struggling, but still high-flying Bowman Eagles.
#4 |
VALPARAISO VIKINGS
|
↑
Last Week: #4
The undefeated Vikings are yet to be tested, but that changes tonight as Lowell comes to town. The Devils are eager to prove themselves after getting blown out on Saturday night, so the gang in green had better be ready.
#3 |
MERRILLVILLE PIRATES
|
↓
Last Week: #2
The Pirates battled EC all the way to the end on Friday night before falling in a close one. This weekend the Bucs battle the Catholics – with Bishop Noll coming to Englehart on Friday, followed by another home game, as undefeated Andrean comes in on Saturday. Region hoops are heating up fast.
#2 |
EC CENTRAL CARDINALS
|
↑
Last Week: #4
The win over Merrillville was huge and some new stars may be emerging for the Cardinals. Up next are the Crown Point Bulldogs on Tuesday, then a date with the Vikings out in Valpo on Saturday. That’s one heck of an eight day stretch. WOW!
