Offense
Brandon Grubbe, Lowell– This sophomore RB stepped in for injured starter Steffan Peck, and the Lowell offense didn’t skip a beat as Grubbe ran for 258 yds and 4 tds.
Mike Desimone, Wheeler– Wheeler’s quarterback was the catalyst for an offensive explosion against South Central, throwing for 152 yds and 2 tds while running for 100yds and adding an interception to top things off.
Roosevelt Williams, Merrillville– The pirates speedy senior RB had his second consecutive big game carrying the ball 19 times for 127 yds and 3 scores as Merrillville took care of Michigan City in duneland action.
Russell Chick, Crown Point– In this battle of two of the best backs in the region, Russell Chick literally ran away with the top spot. The senior RB carried 22 times for 136yds and 3 scores as Crown Point shutout Portage 27-0.
Defense
Austin Macak, Lake Central– This senior did a little bit of everything, Macak accounted for 2 interceptions leading to Indian scores, He also had 2 rushing touchdowns and set up a couple other Indian scores with big plays in the return game as LC came back to win on the road at Laporte.
Crown Point– This defensive unit was outstanding in shutting out Portage 27-0, they held D1 running back Albert Evans to 57yds rushing while not allowing Portage to complete a pass the whole game. They also forced 3 turnovers, 1int and 2 fumbles.
Nathan Pope, Hobart– After sitting out two years with a knee injury, this senior DB made up for lost time with 2 interceptions as Hobart shutout a very good offensive football team in Andrean.
